Why travelers choose Express

The famous view, without the walk

Most Rainbow Mountain tours, including our classic ATV day, still involve one or two hours on foot at altitude. Express was designed for travelers who want to stand in front of the striped ridge with almost no walking at all.

Only 5 minutes on foot

The quads park close to the viewpoint. A short, gentle walk up, around 20 minutes for photos, and the same short walk back.

One price, nothing at the gate

The Rainbow Mountain entrance fee is included, together with transport, breakfast, lunch, guide and your quad. No cash to count on the mountain.

Your own quad

Every traveler rides a single quad with helmet and safety gear, after a 20-minute briefing and practice loop. No licence or experience needed.

Questions about the Express tour

How much walking is there on the Express tour?

About 5 minutes on foot from where the quads park to the Vinicunca viewpoint, around 20 minutes there for photos, and 5 minutes back. It is the shortest walk of any Rainbow Mountain tour we run.

Is the entrance fee included?

Yes. The Rainbow Mountain community entrance is included in the $90 per person price, so you have nothing to pay at the gate.

Does the Express tour visit the Red Valley?

No. Express goes to the Vinicunca viewpoint only. To see the Red Valley too, book our ATV + Red Valley tour, which involves about two hours on foot.

Does each person get their own quad?

Yes. The Express price includes one single-rider quad per traveler, with helmet and safety equipment. If a child or someone in your group would rather not drive, message us before booking.

Do I need experience to ride a quad?

No licence or experience is needed. Everyone does a 20-minute safety briefing and a practice loop, and the guide sets a steady group pace.

Is it suitable for seniors?

It is our most popular option for older travelers because the walk is so short. The viewpoint is still at 5,030 m, so spend at least two nights in Cusco first and check with your doctor if you have heart or lung conditions.

What time does the tour start and finish?

Hotel pickup at 6:00 AM, every day, in a shared group. The day lasts about 12 hours, with breakfast and lunch in Cusipata.

Is there a private Express tour?

Not for now. The Express runs as a shared group departure every day at 6:00 AM. For a private day, see the private option on our ATV + Red Valley tour.

How do I pay?

Pay a 20% deposit by card through Izipay to confirm, and the balance in cash in Cusco, or pay in full online. Cancel 30 or more days ahead for a full refund.
